Here it is, the new CW hit show was released last week, and one thing is 100% sure: WE ARE IN!
Riverdale - The CW
A bit of Stranger things, added to some Pretty Little Liars kind of spirit, with a touch of Vampire Diaries, and you get Riverdale. Finally a teen drama that brings you back to the very core of the genre.
If you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you might have missed the huge amount of teasers that have been realeased since then. If it's the case, here is the chance to catch up.
Two months ago, Riverdale was the center of a terrible murder story that remained unsolved, but now it's time to go back to school. And its share of drama comes along of course!
There enters Archie Andrews (played by the sexy K.J APA), who might seem a bit jock-like at the beginning, all sweating in his football outfit.
But the truth seems to be a lot different. As the episode goes on, a deeper level tends to emerge, more subtle, kind of obssessive. As the plot is getting thicker and denser, we see him struggling finding the path he has to take in order to be fully happy.
Mean, mean, meaaaan girls
Like every kind of teen drama, Riverdale comes with its share of mean girls that we looove to hate. First in line, we have Cheryl Blossom, head of the cheerleading squad, and sister of the recently deceased Jason Blossom. Weirdly enough she does not seem to be so desperate after her brother passed away.
And here comes Veronica Lodge (played by the insanely talented Camila Mendès) the new student coming from a very rich family, just arrived in Riverdale to flee a scandal about her father being involved in dark matters. She is here to start over, be someone new, but it's sometimes hard to dance with a devil on your back.
Betty is a fragile girl completly smothered by a maniac and perfectionist mother, and she is trying to find a way out by choosing a new life.
Last but not least, we have also the fantastic Jughead (aka Cole Sprouse) who, even if he appears to be really discreet, gives to the plot the final touch of what it is that makes a hit show.
The perfect atmosphere
The atmosphere is subtle, and there is a certain density to it, thus giving to this brand new teen drama, a really modern touch and kind of different from its peers. The way the show is filmed is intense, not to say perfectly poetic. The pace appears as really natural, and the soundtrack is marvellous.
I bet you get that now, we are in, and we will follow this new phenomenon made in USA really closely, you can be sure about it. Praised on social networks, the success is already there. Be sure to tune in for your daily shot of brand new piece of info in the following days ok?
Watch Riverdale on the CW on Thursday night, or on Netflix the following day.
