Yep, we've had the chance to go and see the adventures of our favorite sky crew: The Guardians. Part of it is really cool, but the rest falls flat. Review.
The Guardians we like...
The crew is back for another piece of adventure, goofy AF, and we're happy about it. Starlord (aka Peter Quill) is both self-centered as ever and pure of heart, which is what makes him human and the reason we love him. Gamora is even more badass, but this time she is also in love (yes we see the love story coming from far far away in a not-so-original way). Drax is still the rough dumb member of the crew whose intelligence equals the one of a dead fish. Special thank you to Mantis, Rocket and Baby Groot who really made us laugh, saving the whole movie from being a complete wreck. We love them and we want to adopt them too.
A soundtrack that really sparks our attention.
We are happy to see that the directors kept this retro atmosphere we discovered in the first movie, allowing the ones belonging to the Walkman generations to bring back theirs memories of their golden age. The soundtrack is somposed of sounds from the awesome Fleetwood Mac, Sam Cooke, and they even granted us with a new song from David Hasselhoff (Baywatch) called "Guardians Inferno).
A scenario that is nothing new...
Even if the movie appears as funny, there is still a scenaristic weakness which is quite obvious, creating some lingering moments. The special effects, even if they are great ones, are not enough to turn the whole thing around. It will split the viewers into two teams: those who shout out to the genius spirit who came with it, and those who are more into a WTF kind of mood. We wanted to be surprised. But it did not happen.
You get it, in order to make your mind about it, you'll have to go and check it by yourself. Who knows, this might be the movie of the year for you ! Don't hesitate to share your opinion about it, right in the comment section.
